Elliptic Curves: Basic properties and relevant questions

Abstract: In this talk I am going to give a brief introduction to elliptic curves. I will present some applications, several (algorithmic) questions and a few ideas on how to solve them. Moreover some results about the computation of Mordell-Weil bases will be discussed.
